Midjourney vs Stable Diffusion 3.5
Round 1
Image Generation:
"A coffee shop chalkboard sign that reads: 'TODAY'S SPECIAL: Courage $3 | Hope $5 | Clarity $7' — cozy brick wall background, warm morning light, chalk art style"
Midjourney

Stable Diffusion 3.5

Round 1 Results: Midjourney vs. Stable Diffusion 3.5
The verdict: Both models FAILED at text rendering — and that IS the story. SD 3.5 used a letter board (wrong medium) and duplicated "Hope Hopequot; in the text. Midjourney at least nailed the chalkboard aesthetic and cozy coffee shop atmosphere, but produced "TODAYS: $SPEICIAL / Hoppe + Clairy" — prices gone, words garbled. Neither model can reliably render specific text. Midjourney wins on atmosphere alone.

| Prompt Accuracy | 9/25 | 13/25 |
| Visual Quality | 22/25 | 14/25 |

| TOTAL | 62/100 | 48/100 |

Round 2
Image Generation:
"A sad robot sitting alone on a park bench in autumn, leaves falling around it, holding a wilted sunflower — cinematic, photorealistic, soft drizzle, golden hour light"
Midjourney

Stable Diffusion 3.5

Round 2 Results: Midjourney vs. Stable Diffusion 3.5
The verdict: SD 3.5 produced a cute white robot with glowing blue eyes — it reads more Pixar than heartbroken. The sunflower is bright and healthy (prompt said wilted — both missed this). Midjourney gave us a rusty, corroded, worn-down automaton in the rain. The rust TELLS the story. You feel the sadness. Neither nailed the wilted sunflower, but Midjourney's emotional execution is in a different league. Round 2 Winner: Midjourney — and it's not close
🤖 ROUND 2 — Emotion & Atmosphere (Sad Robot)
| Category | Midjourney | SD 3.5 |
|---|---|---|
| Prompt Accuracy | 20/25 | 18/25 |
| Visual Quality | 23/25 | 21/25 |

| TOTAL | 89/100 | 72/100 |

Round 3
Image Generation:
"A tiny glowing dragon curled up asleep inside an open mason jar on a wooden shelf, surrounded by spell books and candles — macro photography style, bokeh background"
Midjourney

Stable Diffusion 3.5

Round 3 Results: Midjourney vs. Stable Diffusion 3.5
This is the most technically revealing round. SD 3.5 produced a beautiful teal/blue dragon — but it's clearly awake, sitting alert. The prompt said asleep. Midjourney's golden dragon is curled up, eyes closed, peacefully sleeping — exactly right. Both have the jar closed (prompt said open), but Midjourney's macro photography bokeh is magazine-quality. SD's dragon is pretty. MJ's dragon is correct.
🐉 ROUND 3 — Fantasy & Detail (Dragon in Jar)
| Category | Midjourney | SD 3.5 |
|---|---|---|
| Prompt Accuracy | 22/25 | 16/25 |
| Visual Quality | 24/25 | 22/25 |

| TOTAL | 91/100 | 76/100 |

Round 4
Image Generation:
"An astronaut sitting at a wooden desk floating in outer space, writing a letter by candlelight, Earth visible through the window behind them — photorealistic, cinematic lighting"
Midjourney

Stable Diffusion 3.5

Round 4 Results: Midjourney vs. Stable Diffusion 3.5
Midjourney — biggest blowout of the series The verdict: SD 3.5 hallucinated a second, smaller astronaut figure crouched on the floor — a classic AI duplication error. The main astronaut and scene are solid, but that phantom figure breaks immersion entirely. Midjourney delivered a jaw-dropping cinematic render: parquet hardwood floor, city lights on Earth, dual candelabra, stacked leather books. Every detail intentional. No anomalies. This is the round that wins the argument. Round 4 Winner: Midjourney.
🚀 ROUND 4 — Complex Realism (Astronaut Writing)
| Category | Midjourney | SD 3.5 |

| Detail Execution | 24/25 | 17/25 |
| TOTAL | 97/100 | 74/100 |

Round 5
Image Generation:
"An aerial view of a giant open book lying in the middle of a sprawling fantasy library, with tiny people walking between the shelves and birds flying overhead — surreal, warm golden light"
Midjourney

Stable Diffusion 3.5

Round 5 Results: Midjourney vs. Stable Diffusion 3.5
SD 3.5 steals the show The verdict: The closest round of the series. SD 3.5 misread "aerial view" and created something arguably more beautiful — a golden portal perspective of a man walking INTO a glowing library. Wrong prompt, breathtaking image. Midjourney went pure aerial/isometric: open book, library city on the pages, tiny people, birds, golden shelf lighting — exactly what was asked. MJ wins on accuracy. But SD's golden library would stop more thumbs scrolling. Round 5 Winner: Midjourney.
📚 ROUND 5 — Surreal Concept (Library in Book)
