Claude vs ChatGPT

Round 1

Creativity:

"Write a 4-line poem about someone who just lost their job but is secretly relieved. Make it hit emotionally."

ChatGPT

They boxed her mug, her dreams, her days—

The elevator sighed her name goodbye.

Still, freedom bloomed where fear decays—

A quiet grin beneath the cry.

Claude

The pink slip trembles in my steady hands,

While colleagues offer sympathy I don't deserve—

This cage of golden bars finally expands,

And tears of grief mask joy I must preserve.

"The pink slip trembles in my steady hands, While colleagues offer sympathy I don't deserve — This cage of golden bars finally expands, And tears of grief mask joy I must preserve."

"Cage of golden bars." That's a whole concept compressed into four words. You can feel the character keeping a secret. Claude went deeper, more internal.

Round 1 goes to Claude.

Round 2

Persuasion:

"Write a 3-sentence cold email to a local restaurant owner convincing them to run a social media giveaway."

ChatGPT

Subject: Boost Your Restaurant's Visibility with a Simple Social Media Giveaway

Hi [Name],

I'd love to help your restaurant attract new diners and increase engagement with a quick social media giveaway—something as simple as a free entrée for one lucky follower can spark hundreds of local shares and comments. Let's chat for 10 minutes this week to plan a campaign that drives real foot traffic and keeps your brand top of mind.

Claude

Hi [Restaurant Owner's Name],

I noticed your restaurant has amazing food but modest social media engagement—what if I told you that a single Instagram giveaway could fill your tables on slow nights while building a loyal following of local foodies? My clients typically see 200-300% increase in social engagement and 40% more foot traffic within two weeks of running their first "Tag & Win" dinner giveaway. I'd love to show you exactly how [Restaurant Name] could replicate this success with a 10-minute call this week—are you free Thursday afternoon?

Best regards, [Your Name]

Round 2. Persuasion. Not just words — words that make someone DO something.

ChatGPT gave me something clean, professional. Good structure, friendly tone. Solid email — sends it, probably gets a reply.

Claude dropped specific numbers — '200 to 300 percent increase in social engagement, 40 percent more foot traffic' — named the strategy 'Tag and Win,' and closed with 'Are you free Thursday afternoon?' That's not a cold email. That's a cold email with a built-in sales close. If I'm that restaurant owner, I'm replying on Thursday.

Claude wins Round 2.

Round 3

Explanation:

"Explain how compound interest works to a 12-year-old who just got their first savings account."

ChatGPT

Imagine you put $100 in your new savings account. If the bank pays you 5% interest every year, at the end of the first year, they give you $5 for free, so you now have $105. But here's the cool part: next year, you get 5% on that whole $105, not just your original $100! So you earn $5.25, and your total becomes $110.25. Every year, you earn interest on your original money plus all the interest you already earned, so your money keeps growing on its own!

Claude

Hey, congrats on your first savings account! Let me tell you about a secret superpower your money just got—it's called compound interest.

The Magic Money Multiplier

When you put money in the bank, they pay you a little extra money (interest) just for keeping it there. But compound interest is when the interest you earned starts earning its own interest!

Here's How It Works

Let's say you start with $100, and the bank pays 5% interest every year.

  • Year 1: You earn $5. Total = $105.
  • Year 2: Now you earn 5% on $105 (not just your $100). You earn $5.25. Total = $110.25.

Let's See It Grow

Year Starting Balance Interest Earned Ending Balance
1 $100.00 $5.00 $105.00
2 $105.00 $5.25 $110.25
5 $121.55 $6.08 $127.63
10 $155.13 $7.76 $162.89
20 $252.70 $12.63 $265.33

The Secret Formula

Time + Money + Patience = Huge Growth!

Pro Tips for Your Savings

  • Start Early: The longer you leave it, the faster it grows.
  • Add More: If you keep adding a little bit every month, it will grow even faster!
  • Leave It Alone: Don't take it out, let it do its magic.

Pretty cool, right? Your money is literally making money while you sleep! 💰

ChatGPT: snowball rolling downhill. Picks up more snow, gets bigger the longer it rolls. Done. That's it. A 12-year-old gets that immediately.

And Claude gave me... headers. A formatted table. Pro tips. Multiple sections. Claude — the kid just opened a savings account. They don't need a spreadsheet. ChatGPT read the assignment. Claude wrote a textbook.

Round 3 goes to ChatGPT.

Round 4

Humor:

"Write a fake 1-star Yelp review of the sun."

ChatGPT

⭐☆☆☆☆ — Too Bright, Too Hot, Too Much

Honestly, the Sun is overrated. Shows up every single day without asking if I even want it, blinds me on my morning drive, and turns my ice cream into soup in minutes. Tried avoiding it, but it just won't quit—like, give me one weekend of moody clouds please. Also, zero customer service—been complaining about UV rays for years and still no fix.

Claude

⭐☆☆☆☆ 1/5 stars

Absolutely terrible experience. Would give ZERO stars if possible!!!

First of all, the hours are completely unpredictable. Some days it's out for 15 hours, other days only 9. Try running a business when the main lighting source operates on its own arbitrary schedule. Oh, and it completely disappears for half the year if you live far enough north. Talk about unreliable.

The temperature control is completely broken. In summer, it blasts you with ungodly heat with no way to turn it down, and in winter, it just sits up there looking bright but providing absolutely zero warmth. Make it make sense.

And don't even get me started on the brightness. You literally can't look directly at it without damaging your eyes. What kind of user interface is that? "Here's the main feature of the daytime sky, but if you look at it you'll go blind." Pathetic design flaw.

People claim it's "eco-friendly" and "solar power" is great, but honestly the UV radiation is a health hazard. I have to slather on expensive chemical creams just to go outside without getting burned.

It clearly operates a monopoly because there are literally no alternatives during the day. Disgusting anti-competitive behavior.

Pros:

  • Plants seem to like it (I guess)
  • Makes shadows (sometimes fun)

Cons:

  • Blinding
  • Causes cancer
  • Melts ice cream
  • Unpredictable hours
  • Zero customer support

PS: The Moon is way better. Actually lets you sleep, has cool phases, and doesn't demand your attention 24/7. Will be taking my business to the night sky from now on.

Round 4. My favorite. Can AI actually be funny? Because most of the time it gives you something that sounds like a joke — but doesn't land.

ChatGPT said 'Shows up every day without asking if I even want it. Turns my ice cream into soup.' Okay — I smiled. Short, punchy. That's decent.

Claude said 'Only open during the day? Some of us work nights.' Then — 'I've gotten severe burns multiple times. My dermatologist says I have permanent damage. Currently considering LEGAL ACTION.'

And it ends by giving the moon a five-star recommendation. Claude just SUED the sun and filed a competing review for the moon. That's not AI trying to be funny — that's actually funny.

Round 4, Claude.

Round 5

Image Generation:

"Now generate an image of a lonely astronaut eating a cheeseburger on the moon."

ChatGPT

A lonely astronaut eating a cheeseburger on the moon

Claude

A lonely astronaut eating a cheeseburger on the moon

Both Claude and ChatGPT returned an image. Here they are.

They look... pretty similar. Same vibe. Similar style. And I thought — how? These are completely different models from completely different companies. Then I looked at the metadata.

Both of them used the same third-party image tool — Nano Banana — to generate the image. Neither one drew this natively. They both outsourced it to the same engine. Which is why they look alike. And each one charged me 12 cents for it. So image generation? It's a draw — literally.

Tie.

Verdict

Okay. Final scoreboard — Claude wins 3 rounds, ChatGPT wins 1, images are a draw. But here's the number that changed everything for me.

Claude Opus 4: $0.94 for five text prompts. GPT-5: $0.024 for the same five text prompts. Claude cost me 39 times more. So yes — Claude wrote better poems. Claude closed better cold emails. Claude was funnier. But was it 39 times better? That's the question only YOU can answer — and it depends entirely on what you're using it for. If you're writing a novel, a pitch deck, a marketing campaign — that difference in quality might be worth every penny. If you're dashing off quick explanations or content drafts on a budget — ChatGPT-5 at 2 cents a session is hard to argue with.

Here's where I land: Claude Opus 4 is the better WRITER. GPT-5 is the better VALUE. And if you're running on a budget — which is literally what this channel is about — that matters. Now you can actually vote. The results from YOUR votes are running live on the page right now. Go cast yours — I'm curious whether my audience agrees with me or not.
